ANZSCDB Young Investigator Award
Transition to independence is one of the most challenging and critical stages in the career of a research scientist. This award is established to encourage and support young investigators who are at the stage of building independent careers in our disciplines in Australia and New Zealand.The award is an imprimatur of scientific accomplishment; the principal criterion is the quality of candidates’ independent research. This award is generously sponsored by Zeiss.

Eligibility: Candidates must be financial members of the ANZSCDB for at least one year.
Nomination process: Candidates must be nominated by two members of the Society (each of at least 1 year's standing). Candidates may self-nominate, but their nomination must be seconded by letters from two Society members.
Application materials: Candidates should submit a current CV, copies of selected publications and a brief (2 pages maximum) Executive Summary of their career accomplishments and research goals.
The award: The successful candidate will receive an award, a symposium talk at ComBio08 (the Society paying registration, travel and one night’s accommodation) and invited talk(s) at national centres determined in discussion with the Society President.
Close of Application: TBC November, 2008.
The successful 2007 candidate will be announced early in 2008.
