Current Topics Symposia in Cell & Developmental Biology
With the view to encouraging an environment of collaboration amongst like-minded cell and/or developmental biologists, the Society has established the Current Topics Symposia (CTS) scheme. Through this scheme, the Society will provide seed support of AUD$1000 (exGST) in advance to facilitate the organization and running of up to four not-for-profit symposia related to cell and developmental biology.

Applications
Applications will consist of a letter detailing the Symposium title, location, approximate date and some proposed speakers. It is an expectation that symposia will be advertised nationally and will involve interstate speakers. The Society will distribute any advertising for the meeting via its email network, although other forms of advertising are highly recommended. This scheme is not intended to simply support a meeting of local science interest groups, although this can be a component of any application. Applicants should also indicate other likely sources of financial assistance that would ensure the success of the meeting.

It is highly recommended that applications be submitted well in advance of the proposed symposium as assistance is provided on a first come-first serve basis. The monies provided are NOT regarded as a loan and therefore are NOT required to be returned to the Society UNLESS the symposium returns a profit greater than the initial assistance provided by the Society. A signed statement from the applicant indicating the financial status at the completion of the symposium (and the recipients of any disbursement of profit, if one is made) must be forwarded separately to the President.

Applications can be forwarded at any time to the President.

The Society will not be held liable, by its contribution, for any losses incurred as a result of organization or running of symposia.

Eligibility
Applications are open to financial members of the ANZSCDB only, and the applicant must have been a member of the Society for more than one year at the time of the application. All supported symposia will have at least two Society members on the organising committee, although there is no restriction as to the number of non-Society members.

Symposium Report
Upon completion of the supported Symposium, the applicant will submit a short report of the meeting for publication in the Society’s newsletter.

Distinguished Visiting Lectureship in Cell & Developmental Biology
Nominations can be lodged with the President at any time for the Society’s Distinguished Visiting Lectureship in Cell & Developmental Biology. Nominees must be internationally renowned overseas cell and/or developmental biologists. It is intended that the nominee will be on sabbatical leave or attending a conference in Australia and/or New Zealand, although other circumstances will be considered. The Lectureship will provide $2,500 to fund a lecture tour in two capital cities outside of the applicant's principal residential State during their visit to Australia/New Zealand. The lecture tour will be advertised by the Society through its email network but additional advertising through other routes is an expectation.

Only one Lectureship may be awarded in any one financial year at the discretion of the President and subject to availability of funds.

Eligibility
Nominees must be proposed by a financial ANZSCDB member, and the proposing scientist must have been a member of the Society for more than one year at the time of the nomination. Nominations will involve a cover letter stating the research interests of the nominee, the reason for their visit to Australia (with approximate dates for the visit), the proposed cities for the lectures and lecture topics or titles. A brief curriculum vitae of the nominee must also be included.

Lectureship Report
Upon completion of the Lecture tour, the responsible ANZSCDB member will submit a short report of the tour highlights for publication in the Society’s newsletter.
