    A position is available for an RA to work with a team of scientists studying the role of microglia in diabetic retinopathy.

    PhD Scholarships are also available to work on this project or other ocular immunology projects going on in the lab (AMD, corneal inflammation, retinal degeneration, membrane nanotubes)

    A variety of techniques are used group by our research including animal models (transgenic, chimeras and knock outs), frozen sectioning, immunofluorescence, intravital microscopy, confocal microscopy, PCR, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy, Facs analysis and various quantitative techniques.Experience in several of these methods is essential.The successful candidate will work closely with Prof Paul McMenamin and Dr Holly Chinnery but extensive collaborations also exist between other groups including The Lions Eye Institute (Dr Mariapia Degli-Esposti and Prof E. Rakozsky).The RA position is for one year initially, the scholarships are for 3 years. The group has international collaborative links (Cleveland, Aberdeen, Bristol) plus a strong publication track record.
