The following awards and prizes are sponsored by the ANZSCDB to assist members who are Early Career Researchers/Students, and offer financial assistance to attend the annual
COMBIO meeting.
The Keith Dixon Prize in Developmental Biology, named after the founder and first president of the society, and the two awards named in memory of the contributions made to the Society by Toshi Yamada and David Walsh, are given at the annual COMBIO meeting for the best oral or poster presentations by junior Society members in the fields of cell and developmental biology. The Portland Press Prize was awarded at COMBIO until 2007 and the ANZSCDB Cell Biology Student Poster Prize commenced in 2008. Details of eligibility and judging criteria, are set out below.

Eligibility
All Postdoc and Student members who submit abstracts as presenting author at COMBIO are eligible for these awards. All presenting authors are encouraged to indicate on their abstract submission form that they would be prepared to give an ORAL presentation, although this is not obligatory for award eligibility.
The Toshiya Yamada Early Career Award is open to Junior Postdocs (i.e. those within the first three years of their postdoc).
Judging
Recipients are selected during the course of the meeting by a judges consisting of senior Society members who attend each presentation and evaluate the quality of the presentation, the contribution from each presenter and their understanding of, and ability to answer questions about their topic.
The awards are announced and presented at the closing ceremony of the COMBIO meeting.

ComBio Student Travel Awards
Two competitive awards are offered annually to Students to assist with the costs of attending the annual COMBIO meeting. The amount of each award is on a pro-rata basis determined by the distance required to travel to the meeting and will cover the cost of Early Bird registration plus a return economy airfare.
Students should submit a maximum 1 page application, with the following information:
- Name and contact details
- ANZSCDB membership number
- Brief description of your PhD project and what you will gain by attending COMBIO
- Justification for financial assistance (e.g. financial hardship, excellence in candidature)
- Publications
