    Curie Institute Post-doc

    Postdoctoral position available

at the Curie Institute, Paris, France, in the“Signaling Network Analysis group” [Dir.: Jacques Camonis, Dpt of Genetics and Biology of Cancers (InsermU830)]

A three year position is available to study “Ral GTPases pay multiple tributes to oncogenesis. From physical and genetic interaction maps to their functions in tumorigenesis, cell survival and cancer”.

Our work focuses on the contribution of the Ral GTPases to various aspects of cell physiology, physiopathology and oncogenesis. This work has been extended to the interactome of Ral as defined by two independent non-biased systematic approaches: twohybrid screens with Ral and partners of Ral to extend the Ral interactome; a modifier screen using Ral mutants in Drosophila. This has uncovered novel tracks that bridge Ral to new functions whose involvement in oncogenesis is part of the project.

We are seeking a motivated and smart PhD interested in exploring these Ral functions. The work will involve both smart guess-based classical biology and the use of an automated cell imaging platform (see www.biophenics.net) to perform systematic siRNA screens.

The Institut Curie is located downtown Paris in the heart of the so-called Latin Quarter (the university district). It offers plenty of facilities as well as an intellectually exciting environment.

Requirements: The candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline (molecular biology, oncology, cell biology, signal transduction…) and will be highly motivated to join a cosmopolitan team (citizens from Italy, Russia, Portugal, Turkey, Mali, Algeria … and France are presently part of the group).
