THE INSTITUTE FOR STEM CELL & REGENERATIVE MEDICINE
    UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, SEATTLE, USA

    Post-doctoral/senior scientists positions

    Research directions:

    • Mechanisms involved in commitment, performance and renewal of myogenic stem cells in distinct muscle groups (limb, diaphragm, extraocular). Emphasis is given to:
      • Cell lineage origins, gene expression “blue print”, cell culture/in vivo performance.
      • Roles of myogenic regulatory factors (Myf5 and MyoD), alpha7 integrin and FGFR4.
    • Microvasculature-associated stem cells and their role in skeletal myogenesis.
    • Origin and molecular regulation of adipogenic progenitors in skeletal muscle. Emphasis is given to the roles of Klotho and ADAM family members.

    Required background:
Applicants must be willing and able to work with mice and have established skills in microscopy and good hand-eye coordination for micro-dissections. Preferred applicants will have demonstrated experience in at least some of the following approaches: cell sorting and primary cell culture, in vivo manipulations of rodents, donor cell transplantation, tissue immunohistology, gene expression (construct design, viral-based transduction, SiRNA, RNA micro-arrays, Western blots). Previous experience in cellular, molecular, or developmental biology of skeletal muscle is a plus. Candidates must have a publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. As a University of Washington employee, you would be eligible for University benefits including medical and dental plans, term life insurance coverage and a long-term disability plan.
