Post-doctoral position: Temple University Medical School, Philadelphia, USA
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Gareth Thomas in the
Shriners Hospital Pediatric Research Center (SHPRC) at Temple University Medical
School, Philadelphia. The lab uses biochemical, molecular biological and imaging
approaches to study synaptic regulation by novel phosphorylation and
palmitoylationâdependent signaling pathways. Our goal is to understand how these
pathways control the normal function of brain and spinal cord neurons, and how they are
impaired in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disease.
The ideal candidate will be a talented, motivated scientist, who has recently obtained
their Ph.D. or expects to obtain one in the near future. Experience in biochemistry and/or
mammalian cell biology is preferable. Experience with primary neurons would be
advantageous. The position is for an initial period of 2 ½ years and is available
immediately.
The laboratory is situated in the recently opened Medical Education and Research
Building, which also houses several Temple University academic departments. More
details are available at:

including 2-photon and confocal microscopes. We are located just minutes from
downtown Philadelphia, an extremely livable city with excellent arts, entertainment,
sports and recreational possibilities.
