    Skin Development and Disease

    Monash University/Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute,

    Melbourne and Cambridge

A unique opportunity exists for a suitably qualified candidate to undertake a
doctoral research project aimed at identifying novel causes of skin disease.
The successful applicant will be enrolled through Monash University and
based in Melbourne but will spend 6-12 months of their doctorate at the
Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (Cambridge, UK), one of the world’s leading
research organisations. The project involves close collaboration with the
WTSI Mouse Genetics Program and UK collaborators to screen for new
models of skin and developmental disease. Applications are invited from
talented candidates with strong undergraduate and honours/MSc records in
genetics, developmental or molecular biology. Experience in the analysis of
disease models is desirable. A candidate’s demonstrated ability to work
independently and to use their initiative would be viewed favourably.
The studentship provides a full stipend in line with NHMRC APA scales as
well as travel, relocation costs and a stipend supplement for the period of
    study in Cambridge.
